Leading with Faith and Dedication We are delighted to introduce Pastor E.J. Ruiz, who currently serves as a Commissioned Provisional Elder at El Mesias United Methodist Church (UMC). Pastor E.J. brings a diverse range of experiences and a deep dedication to serving the community. Prior to answering the call to ministry, Pastor E.J. served as a 12A, fulfilling the role of an Engineer Officer in the military. Through his service, he exhibited leadership, dedication, and a profound heart for serving others. These qualities seamlessly transitioned into his role as a spiritual leader within our church family. Pastor E.J. is blessed with the unwavering support of his loving wife, Crystal, who serves as a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA), and their two sons, Jaden and Ezekiel. Excitingly, their family is expanding with the anticipation of welcoming a daughter, Everly. This journey into parenthood reflects the nurturing and care that Pastor E.J. extends to our congregation, highlighting the significance of family and community bonds. With a background in youth ministry, Pastor E.J. brings a fervent passion for guiding young hearts toward spiritual growth and understanding. His prior experiences have equipped him with empathy, patience, and a profound understanding of the challenges faced by today’s youth. Education has been a cornerstone of Pastor E.J.’s journey. He graduated from PSJA North High School and pursued his passion for communication at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication: Public Relations. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge and spiritual growth, he graduated from SMU Perkins School of Theology with a Master of Divinity. Currently, Pastor E.J. is dedicated to furthering his education at SMU Perkins School of Theology, striving to obtain a Doctorate in Ministry. Pastor E.J. is deeply committed to shepherding God’s flock, as emphasized in 1 Peter 5:2-3: “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.” Pastor E.J. feels deeply honored to have been entrusted with the opportunity to lead this church on its journey of faith. We eagerly anticipate the spiritual growth and strengthened community connections that will flourish under his dedicated guidance.
